We love a good challenge! Whether it’s guiding someone through their very first custom home adventure or teaming up again with longtime clients we know and love, we’re all about making the process smooth, thoughtful, and totally tailored. Curious what it’s like to work with us? Check out what Rupali and Nirav had to say—we think you’ll enjoy the story!
Q: What first inspired you to take on this project, and what were your initial goals?
A: The reason we bought the house was because of the detached garage that needed to be finished. Nirav and I couldn’t wait for it to be something unique that we had never seen before. Thank God we both had a similar vision of an indoor/outdoor moody lounge, otherwise there may have been a golf simulator or a yoga studio there now.
Q: Before working with us, how did you envision using the garage space—and how did that change after seeing the design plan?
A: We were very specific with what we wanted our space to be. Stephanie went above and beyond all the Pinterest images that we had sent over in our mood board. We entertain a lot so we definitely wanted another space outside of our kitchen/living room.
Q: What was your reaction to the idea of transforming the garage into an indoor/outdoor speakeasy and entertaining area?
A: There were so many points where we would push back or not be able to see the full image. The light fixtures, the contradicting wood paneling on the bottom of the bar vs. the dark bar counters were a few. We are so glad Stephanie was there to guide us and push us out of our comfort zones. We were so ecstatic when we saw the final product.
Q: With summer entertaining in mind, how will the new design enhance yourability to host gatherings?
A: The beauty of our space with the heated floors and split unit is that we host all year long. The entertaining never stops! It is extremely nice to have the garage door open when the weather is nice because it just allows us to have more people over and for our kids to run around without us all being on top of one another.
Q: What surprised you most about the design process or the final result?
A: Stephanie’s ability to layer and add so many different colors/textures but for it to still feel cohesive. Every time we walk in or when everyone has left our home after a party and it’s just Nirav and I, we sit in peace in awe of our space and thank God we called TKS. There is no way we would have been able to create such a unique space.
Q: Can you describe how the furnishings elevate the space? Are there anystandout pieces that reallyhelp set the tone or vibe?
A: We love our green leather built in banquette with the metal dining table. It’s one of the highlights of the space. We love that its comfortable enough for the adults but also love seeing ten kids squeeze in and eat pizza.
Q: What kind of feedback have you received from friends or family who’ve experienced the space?
A: Our friends LOVE our house! It’s so crazy because when we initially bought the house we didn’t receive compliments. Nirav and I had a vision of what we wanted the house to look like but knew that it would take time and bringing on the right team to execute.
Now, our family and friends can’t wait to come over. Even the kids always say they think our house is “cool”. Our home finally embodies who we are as people. We love to entertain, laugh, and have fun conversations over a fantastic meal and cocktails, our home now allows us to do that.
Q: For someone considering working with our team, what would you tell them about the process and the end result?
A: TRUST THE PROCESS and your designer! 🙂 Whatever you think your budget is, add 25%.
No matter the size of your project, considering every nuance and long-term effects can be an overwhelming reality check.
