Also important to them was having quality contractors and a professional project management team to lead the project. Their unit was partially above another unit, so not interfering with the privacy of the homeowner below was also an important factor.
The roughly 12’ x 14′ room consisted of an oversized tub deck and jacuzzi tub. Beige tile, oak cabinets and a hand painted mural had the room looking a little dated. The space has a beautiful vaulted ceiling and a skylight but no windows, so more and better lighting was a big priority. They wanted easy to clean materials, a large shower and for the makeup area just outside the bathroom to have a cohesive look to the new space.
We started with enlarging the shower by putting it on an angle and slightly adjusting the location of the toilet to accommodate that change. The giant tub deck and whirlpool tub were removed, and a beautiful freestanding tub now takes its place. We made the most of storage in the room by enlarging the vanity cabinets and flanking the tub with some additional storage space, including open cabinets for easy access to towels.
Artwork, wainscot paneling and sconces added above the storage cabinetry help to fill the space and height along the tub wall. More lighting was added above the shower in addition to sconces at the sink and in the makeup area. Easy to maintain materials were chosen such as porcelain floor and wall tiles, quartz countertops and chrome fixtures. Luxury features and details such as a heated towel bar, train rack for towel storage, pebble shower floor, custom shampoo niche and a teak fold down bench will go a long way to providing a relaxing spa like setting for years to come.
