This client found us on Houzz and wanted to create a softer, more feminine kitchen design that emphasized her love of muted greens. View the before pictures below and read on for the design elements we choose for this project in the western suburbs of Chicago.
Before:
Our client was ready to trade in her builder-grade cabinets and white appliances for soothing sage green, warm wood tones, and a luxury ILVE stove. This kitchen, one of our recent favorites, is a mix of textural elements: polished white marble subway tile and a mother-of-pearl marble accent backsplash, walnut stained hood with brass strappings, along with a Roman shade made from a semi-sheer linen fabric.
While the layout of the kitchen didn’t change – our client opted to keep her sink in the existing location so she could enjoy both the view of the outside and the TV at once – we added detail and functionality wherever possible. Walnut open shelving coordinates with the custom hood, adds to the design, and is the perfect spot to display family cookbooks and mementos from travels abroad. A pop-up outlet keeps electricity hidden underneath the beautiful stone countertop, and custom sage green panels over the refrigerator keep her favorite color flowing through the space.
After:
This new kitchen design is now a sophisticated, feminine space with layers of texture, color, and material. Adding a brass faucet and hardware with a brass globe pendant brings the entire room together.
